The Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in the Emirate of Dubai participated in the work of the 14th Global Forum on Migration and Development summit, as the first representative of a local government in the region at the forum. A delegation of committee officials, headed by Mr. Abdullah Lashkari, Secretary-General of the Committee, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Hashimi, Advisor to the Committee, headed to the Swiss capital (Geneva) to attend the meetings of the Global Forum on Migration and Development within the framework of the Mayors’ Mechanism, during the period from 23 Until January 25, 2024. The committee also participated in a number of side events, roundtable meetings, and group discussions. The committee delegation met with local government delegations from several countries around the world. It is worth noting that the Global Forum on Migration and Development is one of the most prominent annual events that brings together concerned parties at the international level to discuss developments in migration and human mobility issues. The participation of the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in the Emirate of Dubai in the summit of the Global Forum on Migration and Development comes within the framework of the committee’s continuing efforts to follow up on the issues raised on the international scene with regard to migration and human mobility, given that we are part of this changing and renewed world.
